Evaluation Question 6: What have you learnt about new technologies from the process of constucting this product?
So what have I learnt about new technologies?
The first thing we did was taking all the photos needed for our magazine, but instead of a normal camera, which would have been used around 10 years ago, we used a digital one. The digital camera can handle lightning way better and is quicker in doing the perfect shots, they also have a way better quality than the ones they used back then.
After we shot those Photos we were able to manipulate them, to get a better lightning or to cut out some parts of them, that we don't want. We are able to do that now, a couple years back that would only be a fantasy. So in the case of magazine I just gave the pictures a better contrast and turned them into black and white pictures, because that fitted better with the house style of my magazine.
Examples of Normal and Photoshopped photos:
Another very useful tool we were able to use was InDesign, in which we designed our magazine layout. In this software, we used all the pieces of work we prepared before and put them all in one to get the final product. And the fact that all of this is on the computer makes it way easier to bring it in the internet and react to the feedback from your readers. Back then all of this was a way to long process.

After we finished all of this we had one more tool, called blogger. On blogger it is possible to share the work you have done to everyone on the internet because it becomes accessible to look at. So We had to design our blog and explain every single step we took on our way to the finished product. Everyone visiting my blog can see the progress I made in all that time and all the work of course.
My conclusion is that all those possibilities to use new technology to help me designing and planning all of the work I have done in the last few months. On this way, I developed my IT skills, or lets say at least improved them. And without the digital media we used, it wouldn't have been possible. Well it would have been, but it would have taken a way longer time.

Evaluation Question 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?
When you are planning to introduce a new media product, you should have in mind which audience you want to reach with your product, because this choice will determine how you design your product and what content you put in it.
To help you find out what your audience would be, you should use demographics and VAL's.
http://www.strategicbusinessinsights.com/vals/presurvey.shtml On this website you can take a survey and give the information in of an example of the usual person that would buy your product.
This is used to find out about a person's product ownership, media preferences, hobbies, additional demographics, or attitudes. And demographics are about what gender, age, region, social grade or ethnicity the target audience has.
Those steps are all part of my planning to find out what target audience is perfect for my magazine, so I produced a readership profile on which you can find information about what kind of people would be interested in my magazine.
Summary:
Age group: between 20 and 35 years old people
Gender: mostly males, but also some females (M:70%; F:30%)
Social Grade: ABC1
VAL's: Strivers and Achievers
Music-Sub-culture: Rap and Hip-Hop
I used this audience because this is how identify the sub culture Rap and Hip-Hop, which is my favourite genre. So basically I made a magazine with my own ideas and ideals.

Evaluation Question 2: Representing Social Groups
This image shows how my media product represents particular social groups. It also shows the target audience, which gender is particularly appealed to, which age it appeals to and what subculture my magazine represents. Also which magazine I used as inspiration and a brief explanation of Social Groups.
